November is social media’s “Thankful Challenge Month” where people are challenged to post one thing every day they are grateful for. When I have done this, I started by telling the world I am thankful for the obvious; family, friends, health, and jobs. As the 30 days went on, I was forced to find gratitude in minor details. I saw God helping me with the small stuff of life. Without doing this challenge, I would have not seen just how much God is involved in everything.
Even though I am not doing an official challenge this year, I still find something to praise Him for each day during this month. Psalm 92:4 is, “You thrill me, Lord, with all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done,” (Holy Bible, New Living Translation, 1996, 2004, 2007). God has done both big and small things for me. I am learning to see minor blessings as reminders that He is in charge of the universe.
Some small things are easy to overlook and people call them “coincidence”. Now see God’s hand in both big and small matters. A few years ago, my car stalled about 15 minutes from home. Two different friends drove by to help, so God made sure I was not stranded. If I look, I can find something to be grateful for every day, and not just during the month of November. As long as my eyes are on Him, I see evidence He is taking care of me.
