It is easy for me to run to God with big issues. Financial woes and health concerns signal the need to reach for His help. Every time I call out in prayer, God comes through. Sometimes He answers my request and other times He strengthens me to survive a storm. My faith and trust in God have grown through answered prayers. There is no problem is too small and unimportant for God to handle.
Isaiah 26:4 is, “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” (Holy Bible, New Living Translation, 1996, 2004, 2007). As long as my mind is focused on God, I have this “perfect peace”. There is nothing else to compare with this rest I find in Him. When I find no “problems” to turn over to Him, I take my eyes off of God. Gradually, I depend more on my own strength and less on His. Over time, I drift away. I am irritable, impatient, and wonder why.
The longer I follow God, the more I realize I need Him. When things are going my way, I get complacent and relax. Since I am no longer crying out to God in prayer, I am tempted to skimp on my devotional time. I know “taking it easy” will lead me away. Instead of slacking, I dig deeper into God’s Word. He can be trusted to fix everything as long as I am connected to Him.
