Not so Innocent Fails

It is crazy to keep making the same mistake over and over again.  I fail by continuing to eat after I am full.  During meals, I eat all the food on my plate, even though my stomach is full.  After dinner, I crave sweets.  One piece of candy turns into three.  I want more, so I switch to cookies to avoid overdoing candy.  The next day, I mindlessly continue to stuff excess food into my stomach.  I later wonder why I am bloated and my pants don’t zip.

I used to blame the sweets for my lack of willpower.  Today I know my heart still desires excess food.  Eliminating trigger foods is not a fix because I will binge on health foods.  My only cure is to keep my heart focused on God.  Romans 8:37 is, “No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.”  (Holy Bible, New Living Translation, 2007).  God gives me strength to overcome anything, including my desire for excess food.  He gives me the wisdom to stop eating when I am full.  I know that even eating one extra bite after I am full leads to overeating.  God has changed my heart so I want to eat less food.  He helps me lose weight and keep it off without dieting.
