In the past, I started every New Year with resolutions. Since I felt fat even when at normal weight, losing weight was the number one resolution on my list. New Year’s Day is on a Friday this year, so many people will wait to start diet resolutions on Monday, January 4. I will start my resolution today instead of waiting.
This year, I resolve to let God make me over in His image. I do this as I become obedient to His way of life instead of grabbing the last cookie in the house. 2 Corinthians 5:17 is, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, and look, new things have come”. (Holman Christian Standard Bible, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2009) The old “me” worried about eating all the Christmas leftovers and avoiding hunger. The new creation is more concerned with God and the life He desires for me.
Since I have started this blog, my clothes fit better. And my former “fat clothes” are too big My fat jeans actually need a belt to stay up! This life is about more than fitting into clothes. When I focus on Him, I am able to complete what is in front of me instead of wasting time obsessing over food. I do the work He has for me, which includes this blog and ministering to others I can help. God is great and will help me to accomplish through Him what I am unable to do on my own.
