Keeping Motivated

I don’t follow a specific diet or meal plan.  This allows me to enjoy my favorite foods without guilt.  I never was able to lose weight following a diet or restricted food plan.  I did eliminate processed sugar and high fat foods for 5 years, but started bingeing on rice cakes and other diet foods.  Food had always been my comforter for hurt feelings and celebration for successes.  I am learning that food is to nourish my body and not the answer to all of my problems.

It has taken me a long time to slowly identify and remove all the damaging old habits from my mindset.  I would have quicker weight loss following a restrictive food plan, but I believe God is calling me stop using food to relieve stress and reward myself.  These are permanent lifestyle changes I can live with for the rest of my life.  I have been doing this blog for almost 2 years and have experienced weight ups and downs. When I have strayed, it is because I took my eyes off of God.  This time, I am staying closer to God to stay on track.

Galatians 6:9 is, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”  (Holy Bible, New International Version, 2011).  I do believe God wants me to lose these last 10 or so pounds and not give up.  He has transformed me to where I am today, knowing I must continue to depend on Him to stay away from the food.
