Holiday Gains

Holiday Gains

Leftover pie and cookies from last week tempts me.  This year, I did not overeat on Thanksgiving Day.  However, I am getting careless and continue eating after I am full.  I don’t want five, or even one, pound of weight gain for Christmas. Instead, I need to lean on God for strength to only eat when I am hungry.

Romans 12:2 is, “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.  Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good, pleasing, and perfect. (Holy Bible, New Living Translation, 2015)  God has changed me so I don’t want to eat the amount I once ate. I know if I start indulging, I will keep eating.  Even though the world tells me it is normal to gain weight for the holidays, God desires for me to only eat food my body needs.  My heart hungers for His Word.  This Christmas, I will seek God instead of excess food.
