I had a fairly good week staying on track. I did lean on God and worked to keep my connection with Him strong. I caught myself about to eat when I was stressed and prayed instead. God’s ways work to keep me from slipping.
2 Corinthians 10:4 is, “We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. (Holy Bible, New Living Translation, 1996, 2004, 2007). The world tells me to resist temptation by staying away from it. Other experts tell me to post pictures of me at my goal weight for motivation. These worldly methods do not help me stay on track like depending on God does. Looking at these pictures sometimes stresses me out because I start thinking about how much weight I would like to lose. I have not found a way to avoid all temptation since I am surrounded by food. Instead of helping, these worldly methods encourage me to overeat.
God’s mighty weapons help me fight back and win. He calms my stress and fixes the reasons why I overeat. Unlike weapons of this world, God’s weapons knock down my stronghold of overeating. Prayer and reading my Bible both bring me back to where I am no longer tempted by food. God has delivered and continues to deliver me from excess food.
