God created food for us to enjoy. For many years, I forced myself to eat vegetables and other healthy foods. I craved sweets, hamburgers, and tacos, but avoided them. When I indulged on cheat day, I felt guilt and fought temptation to continue eating. I convinced myself sugar and fatty food did not agree with me. Over the years, God reveled my problem was that I consumed too much food. He commands me to only eat when I hungry and stop when full. I learned to enjoy a variety of foods to satisfy my physical hunger.
Isaiah 1:19 is, “If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land;” (Holy Bible, New International Version, 2011). God desires for me to “eat the good things of the land”. He commands me to let go of my desire for excess food. He has taught me to eat slower so I can enjoy what I eat. Before, I would inhale an entire bag of cookies or chips. I never tasted food stuffed down my body to soothe emotions. Now that I slow down and enjoy each bite, I enjoy even vegetables and lean meats. God has even changed my cravings so I crave healthy foods more often than I desire junk foods. He has helped me stop overeating and continue to lose weight.
